Opened in 1971 by Harry Selby, the Belmond Khwai River Lodge was one of the first lodges to promote safaris with a conservation ethos.Located on the edge of Moremi Game Reserve, the lodge is spread across the vast cover of fig trees offering the most uninterrupted views of the inhabiting wildlife of this area and the refreshing waters of Khwai River plains. Wake up to the calls of fish eagles or view the snorting elephants that stroll around the river plains or enjoy a memorable dining experience at the Private deck under the illuminating stars and the silent music of the flowing river waters.
Situated in Botwsana's Moremi National Park, Belmond Khwai River Lodge is accessible by scheduled flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The lodge has 14 tents, which are more like luxurious suites which are more like luxurious suites, each of which enjoy spectacular views of the setting sun or the innocent play of wildlife in the open vicinity of the lodge area.
The tents are housed on raised wooden platforms The tent interiors feel light and modern, and include en-suite facilities with double vanity, shower and separate toilet, king-size beds complete with mosquito netting.
Tucked away from the main rooms, the lodges private suite offers a more secluded, romantic experience. Submerge in a heated plunge pool as antelope dash only metres away. Or take an alfresco shower at dawn to witness the savannah coming to life as you do.
