Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, a Relais & Châteaux hotel, is set in the Lake District National Park near Windermere. Owned and managed by the passionate Cunliffes family since 1988, the hotel spans two charming luxury country houses on two separate estates Set in 21 acres, Gilpin Hotel has 30 bedrooms, the hotel offers a luxurious onsite Spa Space, two restaurants the Michelin Starred SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel and the casual pan Asian Gilpin Spice, the hotel also features a Champagne Bar, lounge, terraces, spa treatment area and the resident llamas and alpacas! Twenty-two rooms have their own hot tubs, some also with a private ensuite spa. Just a mile away from Gilpin Hotel you will find Gilpin Lake House, a sanctuary set on 100 acres of private grounds with its own private lake. With just 6 bedrooms sharing the boat house, spa treatment room, hot tubs, saunas, and swimming pool, this is a stunning private, incredibly tranquil paradise. Transport is provided to and from Gilpin Hotel if you are dining at the hotel.  Gilpin Lake House is a perfect wedding venue and is available for exclusive bookings. The Lake House spa facilities are only available to guests staying at the Lake House. There are endless places to lounge around at the hotel including several terraces and a charming gazebo.

Location

The Gilpin Hotel & Lake House is located just 2km from the station in Windermere, between Oxenholme and Windermere. Oxenholme station is accessible from London and Manchester, as well as Edinburgh and Glasgow. The nearest airport is Manchester. 

Rooms

The hotel offers 30 country chic bedrooms, including luxurious suites and residences to rejuvenate, relax and enjoy the stunning and magnificent views of The Lake District. The rooms offer a living area with lounge, dining table & bar, huge circular stone bath, a double shower and a huge luxurious tub outside. Just over a mile from Gilpin Hotel in a unique private setting is the 100-acre Gilpin Lake House estate, with its spa, small lake, boathouse, hot tubs, and swimming pool (exclusive to Lake House guests). With only six bedrooms this beautiful house has the feeling of a fully staffed private country house.

  • Classic rooms

    Classic Bedrooms are the most modest rooms by size, but they are still very comfortable, and each still has room for two armchairs or a sofa. The Classic Bedrooms overlook the stunning courtyard, moors and gardens.

  • Master Rooms

    The Master Bedrooms are large bedrooms with queen- or king-sized beds, the room offers small sitting areas (usually a couple of comfy arm chairs and a coffee table) and stunning garden views. The master rooms are located on the first floor with great views and many features characteristic of a Georgian house. One of the master rooms has a separate bath and shower. All are equipped with flat screen TVs , luxurious toiletries, mini bars, tea and coffee facilities with homemade biscuits, fresh milk, and a flask of iced water.

  • Junior Suites

    The suites are lovely large rooms with open plan lounge areas, patio doors leading directly onto the gardens, and a patio area with outside table and chairs from spring to autumn. They are situated in the main hotel and more traditional in style than the Spa Lodges and the Garden Suites, the Junior Suites have king size beds and large bathrooms with spa baths and walk-in showers.

  • Garden Suites

    The suites are extremely spacious and lavish with super king size bed and large bathrooms with separate walk-in showers and sumptuous baths. The open plan lounges have feature fireplaces and patio doors leading to decked gardens with their own cedarwood hot tub.

  • Spa Lodges

    The Spa Lodges each have a convertible treatment area, steam room, rain maker shower, free standing oval stone bath, outdoor sauna and hydrotherapy hot tub surrounded by a walled garden – and wonderful views over the gardens to the Lake District moors. The spa lodges are one of the five luxurious detached lodges at Gilpin Hotel, each cedar-clad with king-size beds, gorgeous bathrooms and a fabulously private en-suite spa along with mood lighting, fires, electric blinds and a state-of-the-art music system – invigorating all of the senses. Breakfast is automatically served to the Spa lodge by the hotel on the basis of the timings given by the guests.

  • Spa suites

    The luxurious suites are designed as the ultimate spa sanctuary for two. At 100 square meters the Spa Suites have a beautiful ‘outdoors / indoors’ spirit with stunning views. The Spa suites feature floor to ceiling windows and patio doors opening out onto a gorgeous south facing decked garden with fountain water features, living wall of ferns, and a stunning 2 meter square stone-built hot tub, all alongside a huge pond. At the western end of each suite, the private bedroom ‘floats’ over the pond with views to the mountains, whilst at the eastern end the spa room has a steam room, sauna, infrared lounge bed, and a state-of-the-art automated massage chair.

  • Gilpin Lake house

    The luxurious Gilpin Lake House is located just a mile away from the Gilpin Hotel, a sanctuary set on 100 acres of private grounds with its own private lake. With just 6 bedrooms sharing the boat house, spa treatment room, hot tubs, saunas, and swimming pool, this is a stunning private, incredibly tranquil paradise. The bedroom offers magnificent views of the countryside to the north, and to the east down the Lyth Valley, reaching as far as the Morecambe Bay coast on a clear day; watching the sun rise through this misty valley is a perfect start to the day, accompanied by a cup of tea in bed. The room features luxurious toiletries and lovely views. All are equipped with flat screen TVs, DVDs, and tea and coffee trays.
