A luxury escape into the British countryside, wrapped in manicured gardens with romantic views of the surrounding Lake District, Linthwaite House is the epitome for sophisticated escapes and unique travel experiences. Located in the heart of England’s Lake District and set in 14 acres (5.7 hectares) of established gardens and well-maintained private woodlands including a lake, this luxurious 36-room boutique hotel is on a hilltop overlooking Lake Windermere and the perfect base from which to explore the scenic surroundings. The rooms are stylish, individually designed and many have sweeping lake views. The two dining venues – Henrock and The Bar & Conservatory – serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and handcrafted cocktails between the two. The hotel also has a beautiful wrap-around terrace, beautiful gardens outside and African-inspired sculptures peeping through the foliage. 

Location

Rooms

The hotel is a Five minutes' drive – or a 30-minute walk – from Windermere lake and Bowness. The closest airports are Manchester and Leeds Bradford; both are a two-hour drive from the hotel. There are regular trains to Oxenholme from London Euston, Manchester Piccadilly, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley. The drive from London takes around five hours; from Manchester, you can usually do it in just under two.

  • Classic Room:

    Each Classic Room (an average size of 18m²/194ft²) is a peaceful haven with its own character and calming decor. These rooms have double beds, en-suite bathrooms with underfloor heating, heated towel rails and a walk-in shower.

  • View Room:

    These rooms (on average 29m²/312ft² in size) have breathtaking views over Lake Windermere or the beautiful Lake District landscape. All are en suite with king-size, double or twin beds.

  • Deluxe Room:

    Wake up to a stunning Lake District panorama in these luxurious rooms (34m²/366ft² in size) with some of their en-suite bathrooms featuring double vanities, baths and walk-in showers.

  • Junior Suites:

    Our Junior Suites consist of two spacious suites, with an average size of 53m²/570ft² and en-suite bathrooms with a luxurious bath and walk-in shower. The Suites are located in a secluded wooded area of the hotel grounds next to the Lake Suites. Guests are escorted to their suites along a gravel lane past the tarn in our golf buggy.

  • Hot Tub Suite:

    From this popular room (38m²/409ft² in size) you can step out onto your own enclosed veranda and relax in a heated hot tub while gazing west across Lake Windermere to the Coniston fells. It includes a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in power shower and underfloor heating.

  • Loft Suite:

    This suite (59m²/635ft² in size) includes a king-size bed, lounge and an impressive en-suite bathroom with double designer bath and walk-in shower. The bathroom has a free-standing feature bath and its own flat-screen TV.

  • The Lakes Suites:

    Hidden among the trees within our picturesque grounds are our new Lake Suites. These six units (average size 66m²/710ft²), two of which are inter-connected, feature floor-to-ceiling windows, open plan bedroom and living spaces, king-size beds, and en-suite bathrooms with a bath and walk-in shower. Guests are escorted to their suites along a gravel lane past the tarn in our golf buggy.

  • Luxury Room:

    These rooms are an average size of 25m²/269ft² and offer views of the picturesque woodland grounds, gardens or courtyard. All are en suite, with king-size double beds.
