Architecturally stunning, the Fontenay is a reflection of modern Hamburg – cosmopolitan and welcoming. The hotel’s fascinating architecture mirrors the fluid lines of the lake and surrounding parkland while creating the perfect balance between nature and urbanity. Located on the beautiful and tranquil banks of Lake Alster in the heart of Hamburg, this hotel is a true modern classic. The light-flooded Lakeside Restaurant on the roof of the hotel overlooks the Alster lake and is led by Michelin-star-studded Swiss cook Cornelius Speinle. The Fontenay Bar, John’s Restaurant on the first floor and the Atrium Lounge also meet only the highest standards. The exquisite Fontenay Spa on the rooftop with an indoor-outdoor infinity pool and a Finnish sauna offers a complete and indulgent experience. 

Location

The hotel boasts a beautiful location on the shores of Hamburg’s scenic Alster Lake in the affluent Rothenbaum district. Hamburg Dammtor is the nearest railway station, only 10 minutes by foot; if arriving into Hamburg airport, the drive to the hotel takes less than 30 minutes. The city centre, including the shops along Neuer Wall, the Kunsthalle and the Bucerius Kunstforum museums, is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. 

Rooms

The hotel stands out due to its stunning structure, the organic shape of the building consists of three intertwining circles. The shape of the façade is either concave or convex, no wall is parallel to the other, only the guest rooms are separated by straight walls! The hotel offers a total of 130 rooms and suites, all facing outwards and flooded with natural light. All rooms and suites feature fine parquet flooring, walk-in closets, air conditioning, minibar, in-room safe, satellite TV and balconies. A welcoming colour scheme features tones of Turquoise, and Beige or Royal Blue with gold accents, enhanced by the most elegant furnishings, designer décor, original Antonio Máro artwork and sophisticated touchpads that allow guests to silently open/close blinds, choose different lighting settings and adjust the air-conditioning.

  • Fontenay Classic Room:

    The room offers city or park view, windows, a Queen Bed and has parquet flooring, this room has all the essentials for a good night’s sleep and a comfortable stay. The room measures 28 sq. mts. and its luxurious bathroom has a walk-in rain shower.

  • Fontenay Deluxe Room:

    The Deluxe room reflects timeless elegance and offers generous space; it comes with 1 King Bed or 2 Twin Beds and a lovely balcony. Enjoy city or park views from the ceiling-to-floor windows or your private balcony; the room size is 43 sq. mts. and some of these rooms also have a Bathtub along with the rain shower.

  • Fontenay Premier Room:

    The room measures 43 sq. mts. and is located on a high floor; it features a private furnished balcony with pleasing views, ceiling-to-floor windows, 1 King or 2 Twin beds and parquet flooring. The luxurious bathroom offers a walk-in rain shower, some rooms also have a bathtub.

  • Fontenay Deluxe Lake View Room:

    These rooms of 43 sq. mts. come with a private furnished balcony that brings to you charming views of Lake Alster, ceiling-to-floor windows, 1 King or 2 Twin beds, elegant décor and parquet flooring. It has a large bathroom with a rain shower, some also have a bathtub.

  • Executive Suite:

    This spacious suite features a separate living room, bedroom with large 1 King or 2 Twin beds, a desk and a private balcony, the suite measures between 65-70 sq. mts. The high ceiling and panoramic front façade with panoramic windows create liberating spaces that are flooded with natural light. Opening up to the picturesque views, nature becomes part of your stay experience. The suites are supplied with a range of complimentary amenities and hi-tech features.

  • Europa Suite:

    This beautiful suite is furnished in the design of the Europa 2 cruise ship with earthy colours and warm wooden veneer; it features a living room with dining table, a bedroom with 1 King or 2 Twin beds, a balcony, ceiling-to-floor windows, lovely park views and a luxurious bathroom with rain shower and bathtub. Suite size is between 65-70 sq. mts. A range of luxurious amenities and delightful, hi-end features come with each of the suites.

  • Premier Suite:

    The 4 Premier suites feature a separate living room and bedroom with large King or Twin beds, a walk-in closet with full length mirror and a natural stone bathroom with a rain shower and bathtub, stocked with an exclusive range of products. The spacious and well-furnished balcony is an added delight. Suite size is 75 sq. mts.

  • Park Suite:

    There are only 2 exclusive Park suites, each offering generous space that comprises of a separate living room, two bedrooms or and a fully equipped kitchen. The spacious private balcony offers scenic views of the surrounding park and the lake beyond. Suite size is 120 sq. mts. and it comes with fine parquet floor, a desk, a dining table, two en-suite bathrooms, a dressing room and a natural stone bathroom stocked with an exclusive range of complimentary products.

  • Panorama Suite:

    Situated on the 4th and 5th storey, these suites offer spectacular vistas across Lake Alster. These measure between 85-95 sq. mts. in size and feature a separate living area and bedroom; it comes with fine parquet flooring, a dining table, walk-in closet with full-length mirror, a desk and large King or Twin beds. Its private balcony brings in the fresh air and boasts fantastic lake views.   • Senator Suite:

    These suites of 105 sq. mts. provide fantastic views over the lake; it features a spacious living room and a bedroom tastefully decorated in shades of Blue. A separate work space and a fully equipped kitchen complete this suite. Your private balcony offers scenic lake views and gives an added sense of space. Suite size is 105 sq. mts. and it comes with a parquet floor, a dining table, a dressing room and a natural stone bathroom with rain shower stocked with a range of luxurious amenities.

  • Alster Suite:

    The suite features a separate living room with a grand piano, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining table, a lovely and spacious balcony, panoramic windows and fine parquet flooring. The suite has two bedrooms with large beds and both have luxurious stone bathrooms with rain showers and bathtubs, as well as an additional guest WC. Savour magnificent lake views from your balcony and you can also host up to 10 guests at the dining table for a lunch or dinner party.
